HP Color LaserJet M252dw is not connecting to MacOS BigSur 11.3

I just updated MacOS to BigSur 11.3 and HP Color LaserJet M252dw has stopped working. It seems that BigSur 11.3 has broken support for this printer. I used AirPrint which was working fine before 11.3.

HP doesn't have a driver updated since 2020 so I don't think they will be able to help. I doubt that they will release any driver update to support this printer.

So what's the situation with Apple, can they release fix for AirPlay to support this printer?

Hi,

Since the HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw is a model supporting the driverless AirPrint technology, your printer should be compatible with macOS Big Sur. To begin with, you may want to try the following: Power off the router, the printer, the computer (and all other devices/computers). Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait another two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Finally, power on the computer (and all other devices/computers). Any change?

If not, try resetting the printing system and re-adding the printer (as an AirPrint printer).

every operating system upgrade can introduce breaking changes which will require hardware manufacturers to update their driver in order to make their hardware work, if said hardware manufacturers choose no longer to support their hardware for a newer platform the said hardware will stop working.

you can complain to hp Contact Official HP® Support – United States | HP® Customer Support

or you can choose to complain to apple for making changes that require driver updates to their operating system

apple do not make drivers for third party hardware such as printers, the manufacturers makes the drivers and can choose to hand then in to be included in an macos release same deal with windows

airprint is a generic printing interface apple made which printer makers can choose to implement in their printers, apple do not include printers, printer makers can choose to implement the airprint interface in their hardware if they so choose
