when I make or receive a call I have to use the speaker, because I can barely hear the other person thru the notch. Is there a setting solution? Or I have to take to a repair?

The “If you hear no sound…” article linked above lists many steps and things to try. Among them is a “Contact Apple Support” step.
It’s all the way up!!! You could barely hear the other person talking. Sometimes I can hear the person very low and other times nothing. Have to turn on the loudspeaker
it’s like it was at the minimum volume. I hit the volume side button all the way up and it shows on the screen, but it stays the same. I have to turn on the loudspeaker to hear the other person
