iPod Touch

I have an iPod touch 7th gen, and, recently, when my headphones weren’t plugged in, no sound would come out. To the minute I am writing this, still no sound. Should I get a new one, or can I fix it?

Hi Casodog,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. We understand you're not able to hear any sound from your iPod Touch unless you have headphones plugged in, and we'd be happy to look into what's going on.

To get started, when you have your headphones disconnected from your iPhone, if you adjust the volume using the Volume buttons on the side of your iPod, do you see a Headphones volume indicator? If so, then we'd recommend taking a look at the information in the following resource that can help with this: If your iPhone is stuck in headphone mode - Apple Support

Although the title does say iPhone, the information here would help with your iPod as well.

If not seeing any indication that your iPod is stuck in headphone mode, give the steps listed in this next resource a try instead: If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support

We hope that's able to help.

Have a great day!

Casodog,

Thanks for those additional details. Since the issue did start after the device fell, it is possible that the issue may be hardware related. For this, we would recommend having the device inspected further for possible service.

Check out your local options for iPhone inspection and service here: Find Locations - Apple

If you'd like to look into other possible service options, reach out to Apple Support directly at this link here: Get Support - Apple

Take care!
