macOS big sur is a curse for intel Macs.

I have early 2020 MacBook Air and after I installed this curse my laptop. has lost his performance and battery, my MacBook battery backup is very low just like a windows laptop 4-5 hours just on browsing,

I am a student I don't have a good budget but then also I purchased a MacBook just because that I will get a good battery, performance and it is a coding machine.

now, what should I do it feels like I lost my money.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.3

Hello iamyashgautam,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities

Can you please help me with these info so I can help you ?

  • Do you see any weird behaviour with the laptop?
  • Do you feel it being slow during use of a particular Application?
  • What are the Applications you mostly use before you upgraded to BigSur and when you were using Catalina?
  • Can you post a screenshot of the Activity monitor with the CPU, memory, energy, and disk here.
  • Run a diagnostic test on the Mac and tell me the result ? ( use Internet diagnostics Option + D )
  • Does the laptop heat up ?
  • what is your laptop configuration? Tell me your CPU and how much memory you have.

Please give me this information so I can try help you and help you diagnose the issue. Looking forward to help you out.

Thanks!

Can you also help me with the screenshot of activity monitor with memory tab please? And, can you tell me if you have ran a diagnostic test on your computer recently? Do you use any applications now which are not compatible with Catalina and work only on BigSur ? What exactly did Apple tell you as a solution when you contacted the support people? Have you ever take this laptop to the Apple Authorised Service Centre to get it checked up? Have you ran an Antivirus scan on your laptop recently? Did you reset the PVRAM and NVRAM of your Mac too when you were troubleshooting the issue?

I also recommend you not to run Asphalt 9 kind of games as they use huge amount of CPU and memory and with i3 CPU it is not suitable for gaming.

If you do not have any applications not compatible with Catalina and if you want to go back to macOS Catalina I can help you go back ( if you would like to downgrade and use Catalina until BigSur becomes bit stable for you.).

Anyway, please share the requested info for me to proceed to help you in an even better way.

Thanks!
