iPad AppleCare+ Warranty

I'd be grateful for any help here!

I have AppleCare+ Warranty (2 years warranty). In the first year, I had to get the screen replaced twice as my toddler broke it on both occasions! Unfortunately, the screen has cracked again but this time, when I go through the online process of having it repaired, it is asking me to pay around £199 to have the screen repaired rather than the £39 I paid for the last two repairs. Under the warranty, it explains that I have cover for accidental damage for 2 accidents per year. As I am now in the second year of purchase, I assumed I would only pay the £39 to repair my iPad. Does anyone know what is going on here and has anyone had any similar problems? Thank you so much in advance!

AppleCare+ used to be 1 incident of accidental damage per year.

This may have changed.

You will need to contact Apple to figure this out and make sure that you are actually in your 2nd year of coverage and that AppleCare+ now covers two accident incidents per year, instead of just one.

Apple may have changed their AppleCare+ policies due to CoVid that I was not previously aware.

You need to hammer this out with Apple directly.

Quote from Apple AppleCare+ Webpage

“Every iPad comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warrantyand up to 90 days of complimentary technical support. AppleCare+ extends your iPad, Apple Pencil, and Apple‑branded iPad keyboard coverage and includes up to two incidents of accidental damage protection every 12 months. Each incident is subject to a service fee of $49 for iPad and $29 for Apple Pencil or Apple‑branded iPad keyboard, plus applicable tax.1 In addition, you’ll get 24/7 priority access to Apple experts by chat or phone.”

Just sending a quick update... I was about to ring Apple this morning and thought that I would check the online repairs system again first. This time, it quoted me £39 to repair my iPad rather than the out of warranty price. I have no idea what has gone on here but maybe it was just that no one was working last Friday or over the bank holiday weekend and so didn't reset the information (the second year of warrenty cover should have started on 30/04/21!) :D

So at least we now all know that AppleCare+ covers for two accidental damages per year (so four in total over the 24 month period).

Thanks again for everyones help on here!

I am not sure if there have been any Apple policy changes to AppleCare+ plans recently, or not, but I believe and remember AppleCare+ only allows for ONE accidental/incidental damage or replacement device claim PER year. NOT two.

You used up both accident claims in the first year when you had to get your iPad repaired/replaced twice in the same year.

You have no more accidental damage claims left.

So, this third time, you will have to pay the equivalent of approx 60% of the iPad's original cost, now, to get another device repair or replacement.

Sorry.

Thanks for your reply. As far as I understand it, the above means that I have coverage for two accidents in the first 12 months of purchase and then coverage for an additional two accidents in the second 12 months of purchase. I bought the iPad on 30/04/2020 and unfortunately had to repair it twice. I am now in the second 12 month period and so would assume I have coverage for another two accidents? I bought the warranty with this information in mind. Is it a con or am I completely misreading the information that has been sold to me?
