Less data after migration

HI - moving from a 2017 mac book pro to a 2020 mac book pro and used data migration assistant. hard drives are same size. After migration the new mac book has 197GB of data used on the disk vs. on the old one the Get Info shows 205GB. is that normal and what is missing or does not get transferred? just being worried to lose some stuff. I use icloud etc but still seems odd and I want to make sure before I erase the old one. thanks much!

What folders are you measuring? If you are looking at the space on the whole drive or even whole user account, you will normally see differences since the older computer will have a lot more temp & cache files that may not have been transferred. I don't use iCloud so I'm not exactly sure how it works. The important part is to compare the actual data folders to make sure you have the same number of files/folders and data sizes.
