Ghost Email Won’t Go Away - Tried Everything

Hi,

I have one unread email in my mail app and it’s driving me nuts, I have tried everything from deleting the account entirely, restarting the phone, and adding the account again. When I go into settings and turn the gmail off, it goes away, but I would like to have gmail through the iPhone mail app. I’ve never had an issue with it before. When I go onto the browser gmail, and the gmail app there are no unread messages. For some reason it says “one unread” in my mail app, when there are really none I have not read. Please help, I’m out of options haha

At this point, we'd recommend making sure you have a current backup. Here's how to create a backup: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

After the backup is created, we'd recommend ensuring that your iPhone is on the latest iOS update using these steps: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
