Hooking up my monitor with a MacBook Pro

I have a converter that converts an HDMI to a USB C. I connected the HDMI end to the monitor and the USB C end onto a dongle. The monitor was unable to pick up on the connection even though I have successfully tried connecting the USB C end directly to the MacBook Pro. Why is the dongle not able to connect the monitor to the MacBook Pro?

A converter and a dongle, and a USB-C connection? Fewer parts here is usually preferable.


Could be the adapter, could be the cable, or could be the display or the display configuration.


Try a different USB-C to HDMI dongle, and try a different HDMI cable, as a starting point:
