40GB of "other" data on MS Catalina. HELP!!!

As you can presume, i'm running into an issue on my 2015 macbook pro. For some reason, I cannot get rid of all this extra data. I have tried EVERYTHING. I have deleted my cache, temp files, downloaded countless mac softwares meant to tell me exactly where this issue is, but have found nothing.

Even upon downloading Omnidisksweep, my highest use of space is my user, with 21gb, and I DID clear out a few more things, but hardly anything worthwhile enough to fix this problem.

Someone PLEASE HELP. Will updating to Big Sur solve this problem? I feel completely out of options here.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Try rebuilding Spot light reindexing. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201716

A user has no control over “Other” category of storage.

  • Other: Contains files that don’t fall into the categories listed here. This category primarily includes files and data used by the system, such as log files, caches, VM files, and other runtime system resources. Also included are temporary files, fonts, app support files, and plug-ins. You can't manage the contents of this category. The contents are managed by macOS, and the category varies in size depending on the current state of your Mac.

What a user can do?

   1.  Delete files
