Alarm sound settings in iphone12

Why can I not change the alarm sound on my new iPhone 12, it keeps reverting to default sound, even though it’s indicated correctly as my selected sound?

Message sound notification on I-phone XR I have read through the previous questions, all of the sound notifications are turned on, and I still only get sound notifications sporadically. The sounds always seem to go off when I am in holding the phone, or sometimes when replies are being sent to me, but not when I am a little farther away. I have missed many messages in a timely fashion because my phone doesn’t go off. The last trick I tried just a few minutes ago was to turn the lock sound off, but don’t know if that will help yet.

Notifications will sound and show when the screen is active. I have checked Settings>Notifications also Sounds and Haptics, also checked Focus... How do I change the default notification sound in iOS? Hello, how do I change the default notification sound in iOS for other random apps that do not have configurable notification sounds. It’s impossible for me to tell the difference between a notification from an important work message (Zoom), and a notification from my doorbell (Nest). They all use the default “Tri-tone” notification sound.
