Go to Apple > System Preferences > Displays > Display tab > hold the Alt (option) key and click on the Scaled button.


Or optionally you can try Display Menu.

It's a scaled resolution. The monitor is 4k. On previous macs, it's the middle of the 5 scaling options.


However, that's not possible on M1 Macs via HDMI, so now your interface is either too huge or too small.


...or to put it differently:

Intel Macs support among others 1x, 1.5x 1.75x and 2x.

M1 Macs via HDMI only support 1x 1.5x and 2x *


*and also some really large ones that aren't worth mentioning
