Touch Bar flickering CONSTANTLY; Resetting SMC does nothing

2017 MacBook Pro, T-1 chip. Touch Bar flickers and blinks constantly. Resetting the SMC as suggested in numerous other threads does absolutely nothing. Makes using the bar EXTREMELY difficult/impossible.

What else can be done besides resetting the SMC? This is my only laptop, and I have to use it for work, so I can’t leave it at the Genius Bar for indeterminate amounts of time. If that’s the only suggestion, save your digital breath—I’ll just begrudgingly live with it until I have to cough up thousands of dollars for another one.

Lastly, I’m not a baby-boomer ;-P, ergo I’ve already been through basic troubleshooting steps. SO, PLEASE DON’T REPLY WITH THE ROUTINE TECH-SUPPORT LITANY OF THE OBVIOUS. MY OS IS UP TO DATE. MY POWER SOURCE IS MINT. I’VE SHUT DOWN/REBOOTED.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.3

My recommendation is to get into Recovery Mode and re-install the macOS. If that doesn't help then we know that the issue is, more than likely, NOT software related. If that resolves the issue then we know that the software issue is fixed.

If you have already performed the above task unsuccessfully, then be prepared to live with it until you have saved the thousands as stated in your post.
