fullscreen jumps up

Hello there!

Just the other day I updated to Big Sur 11.3.1. Since I upgraded, there seems to be a multitude of problems. The most noteworthy for me is an issue with certain apps in fullscreen mode. Basically, if I enter fullscreen mode, the actual app jumps up to the top of the screen and the remainder of the screen goes black. If I enter full screen on my secondary monitor (the inbuilt one) the whole screen just goes black.

This problem is not permanent. A restart and it is fixed for a while. So far I couldn't figure out what triggers it to start.

The apps I had problems with so far are Safari (playing youtube fullscreen), Zoom. Teams and Slack. Chrome has no issues.

Another annoying issue that is occurring in parallel is that I can't use popup file selections. An example would be trying to insert the screenshot of the jumped-up screen here. The file selection opens but I can't press anything.

Would be great to get some advice on this.

Now time for a restart and hopefully I can then add the screenshot.

You may have your mouse or trackpad gestures or keyboard shortcuts set wrong for your Mission Control. Also if you have an external display make sure your System Preferences Displays alignment shows the second display to the right of the first, not on top. All these settings are in Apple menu -> System Preferences.

If you have added a wireless input device, it may be confused with device to respond to.

Hi brody,

Thanks for the answer. Right now it's fine, but I will try these things when the issue pops up again.

Regarding the wrong shortcuts: Would it mean that a wrong gesture would trigger this behaviour?

With the external display, it might get difficult to arrange them side by side as my setup is on top of each other, but I will also give this a try.

I have a magic mouse 2, I hope that isn't the issue.

In any case, I hope it is something temporary that will be fixed with a soon to come SW update.
