Disable videos from iCloud upload.

I use iPhone and MacBook pro (and an iPad) and use iCloud to sync everything. But I want to disable iCloud for Videos. Leave it active for pictures but not videos - as I shoot 1 hour HD videos which I then edit in iMovie before uploading to YouTube. The whole process is delayed by iCloud automatically trying to upload the master files from the Mac, just as I am trying to upload to YouTube! The options do not seem very clever and I can't see how to disable at a folder level perhaps within documents? Ideas please.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Hello Timbo Wiltshire,

It sounds like you are looking for a way to prevent videos from being uploaded to iCloud while still allowing photos to be. We'd like to provide you with some information on this.

iCloud is designed to automatically sync both photos and videos, and there is not a way to allow it to sync one but not the other. However, you may be able to make some adjustments to your settings to prevent your Mac from uploading your videos.

It's possible to turn off Photos in iCloud settings within System Preferences on your Mac. This would prevent your videos from being uploaded from the Mac to iCloud. Although this would also prevent photos from syncing automatically between your Mac and iCloud, you can manually download and upload photos on iCloud.com. After signing in there and selecting Photos, you should see download and upload options in the right corner.
