com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 0

This error has come up. The drive was working yesterday. Today it is mounted, but cant be viewed, cant eject. Have tried safe mode start up, have tried all the other tid bits in disk utility, this is my main back up and I do not want to lose it. Thoughts?

Welcome Theangryappleman1,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, your external drive provided error "com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 0". We'll do our best to assist with this.

First, we'd make sure you've run First Aid (twice): How to repair a Mac disk with Disk Utility

Make sure all other external devices are disconnected. That your connected directly from the external drive to the Mac (without a USB Hub or similar).

Try running First Aid in Recovery: Hold Command + R during start up until you see a spinning globe or the Apple logo with progress bar. Select Disk Utility and follow those same steps to select the external drive and run First Aid.

Test the external drive using another computer (a Mac for formatting purposes). If you can't see the external drive on the other computer, it may have failed. But if you do see the drive, you may need to reformat that drive using your Mac in Recovery.

Hoping this helps out, take care!
