iPhone as controller for iPad

Is it possible to use an iPhone to control the Apple Arcade games on the iPad? Seems strange that we can use an iPhone to control XBox etc, and that we can use Xbox / PS2 controllers to control iPad, but not the iPhone to do so, as far as I can see... seems like a logical thing to be able to do. Unless I’m missing something?
