turn off internal keyboard entirely? (mac pro 2017)

hey guys!

i have a mac pro 2017 and i recently spilled wine over my keyboard :)

since then it behaves like the shift key is permanently pressed, which is very irritating!

i`ve already installed karabiner elements and disabled the key (and the keyboard, but it doesn`t change anything), but i always get the message, that i should unpress the key, otherwise the keyboard is being ignored by the application. so its not really working.

i browsed the internet intensely for a terminal command to disable the entire keyboard, but none of them worked on my mac.

i am in despair, please help!

i would really appreciate a helpful response,

xoxo

Mac Pro is a Desktop.

MacBook Pro is a Notebook, you can have the keyboard repaired/replaced if you continue to have an issue:

i don`t plan on handing it in, i am just looking for a way to disable the keyboard.

Not possible—the keyboard and trackpad are controlled by the same cable

If an external Keyboard does not register and an external trackpad/mouse does not register—your hands are tied.

no, external devices do register and they work just fine, but the internal keyboard is still causing issues. it behaves like the shift key is always pressed, so i just want to deactivate it and use an external one.

Understood.

Your Mac has liquid damage. It impacts your external keyboard— your hands are tied.

Repair it, trade it in, buy a new one, keep liquid a way from computer.

There is no " deactivate it "
