Ipad bricked, no explanation

Hello all. My iPad bricked a few days after I installed the latest update. I have tried to force a restart many, many times over the last two days, but honestly, at this point, I'm not overly worried about the data/pictures that weren't backed up. This iPad is my main computer, I use it for school, work, basically everything.

Best Buy told me that it would be about $500 to send it off to try to repair it, and at that point, I should just buy a new one. However, I really can't afford that. It's already not under warranty, is there some way to fix this at home? I am desperate and poor, please help me!

Thank you!

If you cannot power-on the iPad at all, your options for self recovery are very limited.

Connect your iPad to its Power Adapter and allow the iPad to charge for at least an hour. Then, whilst still connected to the Power Adapter, try a forced-restart as you may have already attempted…:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Note: If iPad still doesn’t turn on, or if it gets stuck during start up, see the Apple Support article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on or is frozen.

If the iPad remains totally unresponsive, you are going to need assistance. You would be best advised to make use of the free assistance that is available to you at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad. Before visiting the Genius Bar, make an appointment - as this will reduce your waiting time and ensure that the technicians are available to help.

Why do you have to pay 500 usd if it is covered under warranty? Which country are you from?

i suggest you contact apple support and they will guide you, do not pay the 500 usd, thats a lot of money just to get the warranty claimed.

i live in Pakistan and my Xr had a proximity sensor issue, apple replaced the sensor free of cost and didn't even charge me freight charges.
