I’ve lost the ability to write over PDF documents. I’ve updated the software to 14.5.1 on the iPad and the markup symbol came back for 1 page but then disappear again. Can’t find a reason for it or. Simple way to bring it back.

Sometimes giving your devices a fresh start can resolve unexpected behavior. Are you using the built-in Markup feature on your iPad, or something else like Adobe Acrobat? If you're using a third-party app, check to see if there's an update for it in the App Store: How to manually update apps on your Apple device.
