Let’s start with these steps: If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker.

Be sure to check the Ring/Silent switch on the side. If you see orange, Silent Mode is enabled.

If that’s not it, let’s check: Settings > Do Not Disturb and make sure that feature is not enabled. Also, go to Settings > Sounds (or Settings > Sounds & Haptics), and drag the Ringer and Alerts slider back and forth a few times. You should hear sound.
