big sur spoken content gibberish

I am helping a friend who has vision problems and uses spoken content. Since she updated to Big Sur, it works okay BUT when you mouse over the desktop, not touching a file or program, there is some sort of gibberish spoken by the system voice. It is the same gibberish each time, takes a couple of seconds. I've turned up the sound to try to understand it but I can't and neither can she. Any idea how to turn that off?

Howdy,

When I turn on "Speak items under the pointer" in System Preferences > Accessibility > Spoken Content with the Option to Speak item under the pointer [ Always ],

as I move the pointer over items on the Desktop, it reads them, the names.

When the pointer is in an open area, not on an item it just says, "Desktop".

I don't see a way to stop it from saying "Desktop" without turning off "Speak items under the pointer" as the Desktop is just another thing under the pointer.

Have you tried other voices to see if they are more understandable?

For Example, Siri Voice 4 (English - United States) is Nora Siri, the 'regular' female Siri voice.

I tried different speaking rates. That didn't help. It said a lot more than just desktop, but she has quite a few files on the desktop so it would take a lot longer than that to speak all of them. I am wondering if there is some desktop file that is essentially hidden (that happens sometimes with me) and the name being read. I'll go play again in a few days.
