Phone rings with silent switch on iPhone 12 Pro Max

why does my phone still ring when the silent switch is turned on? I do not have any ‘favorite’ number stored, nor is the caller calling a repeated time. My notifications are muted but my phone still rings for phone calls. How do I get my phone not to ring when I have the silent switch in the on position?

Iphone 11 Rings on Silent I just got my new Iphone 11 and I love it! However, when I switch the phone into silent mode with the switch on the top left of the phone it will still ring when I get texts/calls. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to fix it so that the switch does turn it off and I don't have to manually change the ring volume? Thanks!

iPhone XS silent AND do not disturb I keep my phone silent ALWAYS and also on do not disturb at night. But when my favorites call during the night I need my phone to ring in case of emergency. What’s the magic combination of settings?
