MacBook Pro M1 for Engineering?

Hello everyone! I’m a prospective electrical engineering major heading off to college and in need of a new laptop for school. I’ve always wanted a Mac since it integrates with everything so nicely with my iPhone iPad, AirPods, etc. However, I have concerns like running MATLAB and CAD software as well as I know hat my university will have use virtual into their machines to run labs and simulations. Is this all possible on a Mac M1 chip? Would love your help!
