Podcasts not playing in date order; plays second older episode!

Hi everyone,

I want to listen to a podcast in the "Oldest To Newest" order. I believe I have my iPhone XR set properly but when one podcast finishes, it jumps back two episodes.

For example, if I have episodes 1 through 20 of a podcast and if I'm playing episode 15, when it finishes, instead of playing episode 16 it then starts to play episode 13. Each time an episode ends, I have to manually select the correct next one to play. In this example I then have to select episode 16. When that episode finishes, it will automatically play episode 14, not the correct episode 17.

I'm using my iPhone XR with iOS 14.5.1. I'm listening in my car using CarPlay.

Here are the settings for the Podcasts app and the settings within the podcast itself.

Any idea why I'm having this odd behavior? Any suggestion how I can get the podcasts to play in the correct order?

Thanks in advance!

Larry.

Larry, by the show settings in your left frame above, you only want unplayed Episodes displayed. Those unplayed episodes will be played from oldest to newest. Even though you were jumped forward to play episode 15 it was automatically going to go back to the oldest unplayed episode next.

Just go ahead and play the oldest unplayed episodes, and, if you don’t wanna listen to them, move the episode slider to the end. They will then disappear because you have the Hide Played Episodes toggle on.
