MacBook Pro keeps re-connecting to my Powerbeats

If I use my new Powerbeats with my M1 MacBook Pro, everything is fine. I have my MacBook connected to an external monitor via HDMI, the monitor is connected to speakers and often I use those. Here's what's wierd:

If I turn off the Powerbeats and switch to speakers, all is well for about 30 seconds, then the MacBook reconnects to the Powerbeats! This happens over and over. I have to take the Powerbeats out of the room and connect them to a charger or I can never turn them off and make it stop.

Help!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.3

Hello, and Welcome to Apple Support Communities spacecafe!

You’ve mentioned that your Powerbeats are being connected to your MacBook Pro even when you’re not using them.

For help with turning the Powerbeats off, use this: Set up and use your Powerbeats If needed, there is a link included to reset them.

Next use this guide: If your Mac switches to a different audio device  Let's see if you're able to change the options.

If this doesn’t work how you’d like, we’d suggest setting up Bluetooth to show the status icon in the menu bar: Connect a Bluetooth device with your Mac  By doing this, you’d be able to quickly disconnect the Powerbeats instead of leaving the room.

Let us know if this helps!

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately I have been turning them off, and that is the problem, they turn on and reconnect. Just now I called the eye doctor with my turned off headphones on the desk (I turned them off and set them there about an hour earlier), while I was talking they turned on and took the audio from my phone, doctor hung up because I was gone.

I've already reset them and repaired them, a few times. This seems to fix the issue for a few days, then it's back.

It's great to have the audio selection in my menu, but I don't want to select away from my Powerbeats every 30 seconds as I turn them off, they reconnect, I turn them off, they reconnect, I turn them off, they reconnect, you get the idea...
