Messenger verification code texts

Since getting my new iphone (12), I've been getting verification code texts for unknown reasons. I've followed the existing support suggestions of changing my apple id login password and am still getting these, in a slightly different format and from a different number. I cannot find any way to mark these as junk. All I can do is block them. Since I'm getting these after changing my login, do I need to change it again? will I need to keep changing it every other day?
