Unable to add phone number to “Reachable at”

Hi, My name is Vineet

For quite some time I was using my father’s account on my iPad.

I created a new Apple ID and now I am unable to add my number for iMessages

I am unable to add a particular number which I had used previously with my Father’s account for iMessages,(I had used +91abcdefghij(hiding my number) with my father’s account and now I am unable to add the same to my new account, it shows phone number not available. Is there any way to get back my number to add it to my new account in Settings>(Name)>Reachable at. What are the steps?

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you are having issues with your mobile number using FaceTime and iMessage with your new Apple ID. We would love to provide support on this.


First you need to remove the phone number from your dads Apple ID info and add it to your after. You can get steps on how to do so here:


Manage and use your Apple ID


Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime


Additionally if the Apple ID being used is for a minor you may need to have the parent account remove the contact information and Apple ID.
