2 iPhones 1 Apple ID

My wife and I share an Apple ID which generally benefits us. However, the “me” recently appeared on my contact info and when sending a text from her phone, it appears as though it comes from me. Was this part air a recent update? How can I get back to each phone recognizing its own number as “me”?

iPhone 11, iOS 14

Two people using a single Apple ID is just asking for this kind of issue to arise. Apple uses an ID to identify a single user and the whole system revolves around that in terms of providing services. You can do as you have done but you are working against the basic way the system is set up.

I don't know if this have been the result of an update. I guess it is possible with an update that the system did a reevaluation and saw that your ID was on both devices and changed things accordingly.
