Server busy when sending email from Mac, Big Sur

when I send an email I get a pop-up that says " the server is busy and message could not be sent to icloud", but the mail is in the sent box, so I figure it was sent. why is that message popping up all the time? it also says "The imap command APPEND to send failed. I just got this mac book air a few weeks ago, never had this problem with the old pro laptop.

Hello Merrylj,

We understand that you're experiencing an issue sending emails on your Mac, and we want to help any way we can.

To help us narrow the issue down, we'd like to ask a few questions.

  1. Are you using the Apple Mail app, or another email application?
  2. Do you use multiple email accounts with your Mac? If you use multiple email accounts on your Mac, does it happen with all of them?
  3. Which version of macOS Big Sur are you using at this time? Find out which macOS your Mac is using

In the meantime, this link has some steps and information that can help if you're experiencing issues sending emails: If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac

Thanks!
