I have a first gen IPad Air with an old Apple ID, i am now trying to change it into my current one, since i don’t have the password for that old ID. But when i want to sign out, it asks for the password of that locked ID, since it (for whatever reason) needs to access “search my IPad”. I tried to recover the password for that account, but the verification codes go to that same locked e-mail address.

If you forgot the Apple ID password, enter the Apple (iCloud) ID, and click Forgot Password. See if you can get a Rescue or Notification email option if necessary.
