bluetooth compatibility with old imac mid 2011

Hi, I'm trying to find out whether my mom's old mac could work with a recent bluetooth speaker, from bluetooth 4.0 on. The computer is a mid 2011 imac working with 10.9.5, I read it has a 2.1 + EDR bluetooth. It won't detect my headphones (bluetooth 4.0)...

my iMac Monterey has lost the ability to connect to my bluetooth stereo How do I get the Bluetooth in my iMac to connect to my stereo receiver like it used to do. My iPod Touch still connects to my Sony receiver but my iMac seems to have lost the ability to do so. It no longer even works to remove the stereo from Bluetooth Preferences and reconnect. That procedure worked for a week or so but not today.
