"cannot parse response" (NSURLErrorDomain:-1017

I was on Safari. I wanted to create a new account on Amazon. To do so, they had to delete my old account because due to being chased by a hacker for years, I was off the grid for a year and all old data was bad. Using Mac more secure. But it's a real learning curve esp. with recent brain injury. Frustration Galorious. So I go to create new account FOUR times and just before I get to the final wondrous moment, I get the message:

Safari Can't Open The Page.

Safari can't open the page https://amazon.com/ap/register". There error is "cannot parse response" (NSURLErrorDomain:-1017

So I think maybe it's because I put on Duck Duck Go and Amazon is offended. When you've been hack chased for years, you think like this. So I remove the Duck (secretly intending to retrieve it as soon as I get my account).

It makes no difference.

I use the Bing search engine.

Same.

I call Amazon. THEY have a phone number for me to call unlike other "A" products who let the cognitively challenged wonder about headachy. They tell me the error message tells me it's an Apple problem.

I head to my friendly Apple bookmark and struggle to figure out how to raise a human being to acknowledge my existence and tell me the answer to the proverbial question: Will I ever have an Amazon account again?

Startup in Safe mode. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201262

To leave Safe Mode, click  in the menu bar and choose “Restart”

Quote:

Safe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software when it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, and fonts not installed by macOS. It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which will be created again automatically as needed.

If this doesn’t help:

Download EtreCheck, run it to see if there is any adware installed or not.

      https://etrecheck.com

      Click  “Free download” button,

Open Downloads folder, click on it to open, and then select ”Open”.

“Choose a problem” from the popup menu box, and then “Start EtreCheck” in the dialog.

Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy report” .

Paste the report when you reply.

Note: This is a diagnostic test.

I don't know who wrote that response to me, but I want to thank him or her. I did reset in safe mode and later had to download the software and it solved the problem but then it came up again repeatedly. But more importantly, it taught me a ton about my Mac - as a new user from PC, like how to go into safe mode and what it means as I have had to use it repeatedly. Also I like the tool because it shows me what's up with the computer and where I might have screwed it up along the way or something out there mysteriously did.

Sometimes I feel like a real idiot on this. The MacBook Air is far more intuitive than the iPhone (coming from Android) Eventually, I would like to use all voice commands and save my very arthritic hands, but until then I would just like to know how to use my voice for emails and Pages etc.

Also, my mom gave me a CD for Bejeweled 3 for Mac & PC. I installed it but without even opening decided it took up too much space. But it had no uninstaller. I went to the READ ME. No luck. Went to the website. They won't even admit they have a Mac version and bumped me off. What to do?

Thanks again.
