Safari update to 15 Problems

Since upgrading to Safari v15.0 several webpages fail to load, most notably eBay. The normal user login process starts and then the page starts reloading and finally the system gives up and puts up an error page (Attached). This same thing happens on a lot of other websites as well. This also happens when in rebooted into safe mode.

I suspect this is a direct result of the http/https change to safari. Is there a way to switch this off so I can test it out and see if that is indeed the culprit? This bug is critical for me - I have to get into eBay to complete sales and get items dispatched - so currently having to do this from a non apple computer!

There are many threads reporting the same symptoms with Safari 15. One of them (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253165554) describes a way to re-install Safari 15 on Catalina which fixed my problem. I don't know if there is a similar fix for Big Sur.
