Streaming quality of Apple TV App on Chromecast with Google TV

All HD Apple TV content is being streamed in SD using the Apple TV App on Chromecast with Google TV. All other apps on the Chromecast can stream in HD. In the Apple TV App settings the 'Limit Playback to SD' option is off. My Apple TV device streams in HD, why doesn't it stream in HD on the Chromecast?

Netflix directly on the TV using the android app: perfect Amazon/HBO on Apple TV: perfect Netflix on Apple TV: horrible, low quality, pixelization, blur, unwatchable Any ideas on how to fix this problem? ps: this may not happen with all titles but is very noticeable in titles such as "the sandman" or the "the power of the dog".
