Reconnected network folder does not hide at login

Hello,

I have a Windows File Server folder that is reconnected at login. Under System Preferences > Users & Groups > User > Login Items, I checked the box to hide and then rebooted the Mac.

When I log back in, the reconnected network folder still opens by itself. Is this a glitch in Big Sur or am I configuring it incorrectly? I am using Big Sur version 11.3. The network folder is on Windows Server 2016 with a simple file share.

Mac mini, macOS 11.3

I think it has to do with what can actually be hidden. Adding a network share to login items really means, “open a Finder window of this share.” It doesn’t connect in the background. You can’t hide an individual Finder window. You can hide the Finder, like most apps, but you can’t hide the individual Windows.

You would have to create something with automount to get what you want.
