Difficulties playing Apple TV+ content on Apple TV 4k

Hi, I have an Apple TV 4K and a subscription to Apple TV+. I have been trying to watch Mosquito Coast but more often than not it just shows me a black screen. Sometimes I can get it to play by just hitting play, menu, play, menu etc until it starts. I have a Sony A8H TV and I can play the content fine through the Apple app on the TV.


Pretty weird that the Apple TV box cant play the Apple TV content. All other apps (Disney, Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Hulu) all work fine.


Anyone else has issues like this?

Yeah, I just tried "Home Before Dark" and "Trying" and I got the same issue. A black screen with a flashing or intermittent spinning white graphic. Even getting back to the home screen will take a few presses of the menu or home button before it responds.


I have tvOS 14.5 (18L204)


Edit - I fixed it. The video setting "Match Frame Rate" was set to on. When I turned it off the video started playing.

Let's see if we can check this out together. Have you noticed if you're experiencing this issue with multiple shows, or only with the one you mentioned? When did this issue start occurring for you?


Which tvOS version are you currently running on? You'll want to make sure your tvOS is up-to-date by following the steps in How to update your Apple TV.


We'd also recommend checking out the information in About 4K, HDR, and Dolby Vision on your Apple TV 4K to make sure you have everything set up correctly to receive the best experience possible. If the behaviors continue, you may also want to consider adjusting some of your settings to see if this could help your issue in Adjust video and audio settings on Apple TV.
