Are you able to edit your final cut project when the project file is on an external drive?

Hi!

I am thinking of being a Samsung T5 external ssd for video editing.

My question is if you are able to edit your final cut project completely of an external drive.

Both the video material and the project file.

My Mac only have 256gb so when you work on bigger video projects the space runs out fast.

I hope I can get help here.

Thanks in advance.

That’s is a great plan. An external SSD is the right way to go.

Don’t forget to format the drive as APFS and make sure that FCP has “Full Disk Access” in System Preferences->Security & Privacy->Privacy.
