Samsung SCX-3405w on M1

Guys, please help.

I'm trying to get a Samsung SCX-3405w to work via USB cable with a Mac Mini M1.

It simply won't work.

I've tried everything. Generic drivers, Apple support, FAQs.

Big Sur sees the printer (USB and Bonjour) and is able to install it, but on the Printer Queue, the job goes nowhere, with a message "Filter failed".

HELP, I'm going mad!

Mac mini, macOS 10.15

Hi,

Any change with both printer and computer wirelessly connected via a Wi-Fi router, thus avoiding USB?

The Samsung (HP) SCX-3405W is mentioned in About AirPrint - Apple Support as a model supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. This means that drivers should not be needed when the printer and the computer are connected to the same network.

You may want to try resetting the printing system and re-adding the SCX-3405W (as an AirPrint printer).

Hey, thanks for your help.

I've just solved the issue and I'll tell you how.

I reset the printing system of the new Mac Mini M1. Then, I deleted all files from the Printers folder in the library of the new computer.

After that, I copied the Printers folder in the library of my previous/old Mac Mini (with which the printer was working just fine). Then, I pasted the files into the Printers folder of the new Mac Mini M1.

Then, I plugged the printer and it magically appeared and worked great.
