I just got a new iMac. The photo previews show fine but the video previews don't show at all. they only show the Quicktime icon. How do I reoslve this issue?

It sounds like you're not seeing preview thumbnails for MP4 video files, and we're happy to help. Do you see preview thumbnails if you create a new user account and login to it?

There's a roundabout fix for this issue on Windows using another app (Icarus) but I haven't found a solution for the Mac. I finally just gave up and I'm organizing my footage with FCPX, but I prefer to do it before importing. I'll keep looking for solutions and if I find one, I'll update here!
I am also having this same issue. Quicktime can't even play the files if I try to open them; I have to use VLC.
Yes I still haven't resolved this issue. I'm having to use VLC as well but I hate the fact that I can't see the preview thumbnails. It's so frustrating.
No I can't see them on another profile either.
