Turn off Auto-format on iOS notes And prevent a Dash from being indented

Looks like the last topic on this got locked (dumb) and I couldn’t reply.

im super frustrated that when typing lists in Notes on my iphone, if i add a Dash “-“ at the start of a line, it auto-indents with a longer line. I do not want that Apple!!!

so, since there is no switch to turn off this unwanted feature, j made my own work-around.

1 go into your keyboard settings.

2 go to Text Replacement

3 add a new shortcut

4 make the Shortcut -/ (for example)

5 make the phrase "- " (add the space at the end)

save it.

any time you type -/ it should auto correct to a dash and a space and not auto-indent.

I chose the - / combo since that would be an unlikely naturally typed combination, and they're right together.
