Hi,
If you have a SIM card on your iPhone, you should at least receive messages as ‘SMS’ (green bubbles)
To receive on your phone number iMessages, you have to activate iMessage in settings and check your iPhone number as I explained it.
If you don’t see your phone number, that means you didn’t associate your phone number with your Apple ID, as iMessage works with your Apple ID.

Hi,
Try to go in settings/messages/Send and Receive/select your phone number instead your email address bellow “Start new conversations from” section
It is fixed. After some calls to both Verizon & Apple I was finally able to get my phone activated. Apparently there is a 24 hour window to get the iPhone 12 ported and it took every bit of that time to work itself out, but it did. Thanks everyone for your help!

But if your phone number isn’t there?
Nope it doesn’t work. My phone # is listed under my Apple ID but it does not come up under send & receive in messages. Also, when I turn messages on and off it errors every time.
