While I am able to alphabetically and/or numerically sort mailboxes using On My Mac, I am unable to do so using ICloud, when I create a new mailbox it drops to the bottom and using the same techniques as those I use for mailboxes On My Mac I am unsuccessful. I am using Big Sur version 11.3.1

That's correct. Mailbox sorting is not a feature of the online iCloud service. Tell Apple what missing features you'd like restored or new features added to the system via Feedback - macOS - Apple.

Thank you, seems crazy not to be able to sort on iCloud service, for me diminishes utility. I have provided Apple feedback
