iphone XS auto focus not working

I’ve just bought an iPhone XS and the camera won’t auto focus in it’s normal photo mode? It works better in portrait mode but if you touch the screen for AF in the standard mode it doesn’t focus at all? How can I get this resolved as it’s obviously a big part of the phone.
