Cannot add Clipper Card to Apple Wallet on iPhone 12 Pro

There is some error preventing me from adding the SF Clipper Card to my Apple Wallet on my iPhone 12 Pro.

  • I have the Clipper App and I've logged in.
  • I went to Apple Wallet and selected +
  • I clicked on adding Clipper Card
  • I selected Transfer Existing Card
  • I entered the last 4 digits of the Clipper Card and the last 4 digits of my phone number, checking me last name. (I even tried the last 4 of my credit card instead and that didn't work either)
  • I Agree to the terms
  • When I rest my phone on the Clipper Card as shown on a flat, non-metal surface, I get the error over and over again: "Card Could Not Be Added: Check the information on your card and try again--Add a Card Later or Try Again"


I have successfully logged into the Clipper site and there is no issue there.

I've also removed the phone from the plastic case and removed the lens cover for the camera--no success.


Is this User error? Or is there something wrong with the Wallet app or Phone?

Make sure to go through all of these troubleshooting steps from Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205630. It looks like there was a recent service disruption with Apple Card/Wallet so that may be the culprit. I would also run through the steps here: https://www.clippercard.com/ClipperWeb/apple-pay to make sure you're hitting all the criteria. I hope that helps. Would love to hear more about the issue once you're able to get it resolved.
