FCPX downgrade - updated libraries won't open - workaround?

Hi - I am about to downgrade from Big Sur to Catalina (Big Sur was crashing my Macbook for months - no solution). So I have assume I will be forced to downgrade my FCPX as well. Naturally I'd like to open my Libraries but they will no longer be openable. So what is the workaround to be able to work on Catalina with a lower version of FCP and "updated" libraries?

Will I lose all my Libraries?

Is a workaround possible? such as I export timelines as XML and then, downgrade FCP and import the XMLs again and try and link with media?

I doubt I'll go to Big Sur again - too much unreliability for no benefit. So I am stuck on Catalina and an older FCP. I can't be the only one to downgrade and be stuck like this?

Is the CCC clone of the data volume from Big Sur or the whole drive? How do you see the files on the drive if it doesn’t appear in the Finder? Try running First Aid in Disk Utility on the drive. It might fix something. You can run Migration Assistant after the system installation, but it’s clumsy as you probably will want to create a dummy user at initial start up.

Hi Tom. Yes that is what I am doing. I found Music is a mess with tons of legacy itunes/imusic/music folders. Photos I have a separate library - not attempted to get that working yet. Fonts are all at default. Plugins in FCP are hidden away. Some of my Mail sent folders are empty. All in all it is very sub-optimal process.

headline discovery - Migration Assistant does not work for Big Sur to Catalina. I have not read of anyone achieving this. So clean installs will be hobbled by the weakness of manual migration.

This test I did was to a spare iMac so Im not confident of doing the same for my critical laptop.

Update on the problem.

I tried to do a test downgrade from my Macbook Big Sur to a clean install of Catalina on an iMac (to test before I do the same on the Macbook that is actually seeing the freeze and crash issues. This test failed because Migration Assistant does not work with OS downgrades. A manual migration is just messy and insufficient for my needs on my primary Macbook.

So I sought more suggestions and rather than risk downgrade I went for a "dirty" re-install of Big Sur. In preparation I had already removed all the likely suspects - Chrome, Keystone, 3rd Party apps. etc. None of these seemed to cure the problem. I then did a straight internet re-install of the Big Sur. 3 weeks later I have not had a crash nor freeze. I still get the fans kicking in and Console still is full of :

getattrlist failed for /Library/GPUBundles/AppleIntelHSWVA.bundle/Contents/MacOS/AppleIntelHSWVA: #2: No such file or directory

and

com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.mdworker.shared.0): Service exited due to SIGKILL
