Macbook air m1 8gb youtube chrome stuttering

Hello .

I recently bought a macbook air m1 and I'm very happy with it. It works perfectly with one exception: chrome. I downloaded the M1 version and it's fast, doesn't seem to be too hard on the battery, but I have a problem with video playback . Youtube have regular stuttering in 4K60 (less in 1080p60 ) but no drop frames. I tried the same video with Safari and everything works perfectly.

Do you also see this problem? .

Thank you in advance for your answer

Thank you for your answers. I was thinking while looking at the cpu usage that chrome doesn't seem to be as well optimized (not to say much less). Probably this ARM processor is too new to be really exploitable correctly by something else than Safari . Your answers confirm what I thought without having the certainty if the problem could come from my side or from Chrome's side.

It could be a glitch within Chrome itself.

Since you're running an ARM-based machine, applications get translated by Rosetta 2 to a Universal Binary that is native to the M1 chip.

Even though Google says that Chrome runs natively on M1, I suggest waiting for a patch update to be released.

Use Safari for the time being, as it is made by Apple, you shouldn't run into problems.
