Watch dvd on iPad but not copy it

I understand it is illegal to copy a purchased dvd and have no desire to do so. I would like to play my purchased dvd on my iPad. Recent vitrectomy surgery prevents me from raising my head, but I can watch my iPad if placed on my knees. Can I connect the DVD player on another computer to my iPad?

Isn’t it possible to somehow play a DVD and watch it on iPad? I own a wonderful iPad. It is not some fancy iPad where I can write on it, etc. It is probably five years old at least, but it works wonderfully. I have an external cheap DVD player that works wonderfully. Also, is there anyway I can get that DVD player to plug into my iPad? I don’t want to rip or do anything illegal. I simply want to watch movies I own on a DVD player I own, but use the iPad as my television. You would think in today’s world that would somehow be possible but I don’t want to copy something onto the iPads drive for fun use iTunes to do such an such, I just want to plug my DVD into the iPad. Is there some sort of plug-in device that will help me to accomplish this or I am I totally out of luck? Thanks everyone.

Watching downloaded films on iPad Going on a flight soon and would like to know how to watch downloaded films, last time I could watch a bought film but not the rented one, when researched upon returning and learnt that you should start the film to play while connected to Wi-Fi then it would be ready to watch in your library, I did this but could still not not watch as they were not in my library with not being connected to Wi-F, I am now at a loss of what I need to do?

No optical drives ( CD, DVD, Blu-ray ) work with ANY iOS device.

iPads do not have enough internal power to operate such drives and there is no dedicated software player or software drivers/code to operate such external drives.
