I want to make my airport Time Capsule as cloud drive.

Hi, why I cant change icloud drive location to any other drive like AirPort Time Capsule? NOW is 2021, everybody use cloud to access files anytime, anywhere.

It's not relevant to store icloud drive files in same drive on mac. if i want to access from same drive, why and what should I store it on cloud, its wasting my storage and my money to stored same thing that already can be access from same cloud. plus your recent macbook have small space compare to cloud drive 2tb that have I buy.

actualy i use the cloud like something work i left office, or in my parents/friends house. and than to continue work on it when in home or sometime when urgent and in need. but cloud drive not function as it.

Right now, I use to open my work cloud or google drive because cloud drive and Time Capsule. I dont know what relevant is apple's make cloud drive and force to buy it. it's not worth anything.

Another thing I have try many time, but cant solve it. I try to used files app to connect Time Capsule but files apps in ios device cant connected and find it. Its weird thing and waste of my money when sames apple device cant connect.

Apple please update your files app, your cloud drive to store any drive.

We cannot answer for Apple, but it is common knowledge that Apple discontinued the Time Capsule over 3 years ago. All Time Capsules are now out of warranty.

It is extremely unlikely that Apple will add any new features or options for the Time Capsule, but you can make your request here:

Apple eliminated back to my mac to force you onto iCloud..

The best way around that is to get rid of your current main router.. if it is a Time Capsule plug it into a new router setup which includes OpenVPN (or IPSEC) server.

Beware that TC was never designed for this job and is really poor if you do not take great care with backups. Remember Time Machine cannot backup network source files.

A true NAS like Synology is the other option and has a proper vpn remote access built in.

Also be aware of recent failure of QNAP (the main competitor to Synology in NAS game) had a BIG failure recently with ransomware. It is exactly this scenario of using a NAS as cloud that led to the security breach.. so beware the easy fix.
