MacbookAir not starting up after installing Homebrew

After installing Homebrew I tried to install Screenfetch. The Terminal told me to try and force an update using a command line. I used it and the Mac crashed. Nothing is working, tried all the restoration button combinations. If I plug in my iPhone in the USB my charger lights up but doens’t charge the phone. It was perfectly function before running that command to —force and update to the system so I know it’s my fault. Google doens’t have anything useful. Anyone had a similar problem?

I'm sorry to hear that. So to clarify, your Macbook Air won't start up at all or all the way? I'll include these guides for each scenario:

What to do if you can't start up all the way: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204156

What to do if you can't start up at all: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204267

I have looked for similar issues online but have come up empty handed so far. Do you remember anything about the command? Was it just something like `brew install screenfetch --force`?

  • Brutal. I'm sorry but you're likely going to need to contact apple and get it looked at. There is a way to attempt a revival in this scenario if you have another mac handy, using Apple Configurator 2, but you need to have a T2 chip and MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2018) was the cutoff year. Best of luck and I hope you get it fixed promptly.

@loganbek Thank you for your resourcefulness and helping me in this situation. It doesn’t startup at all. Screen does not light.

The command started with software update and ended with —force. I tried to look for it in Google with no avail.

The command was suggested by the own terminal. After installing Homebrew I ran the command line to install Screenfetch. It asked for my password in sudo. I typed sudo and my password and it went through, but installation still didn’t work. The error message in the terminal gave me the command to update everything, which I copypasted and seconds after starting to run, the Mac died.
