RE: Mail, sending an automated response using a template

  1. Is there a way to set up a rule in Mail that would search the message text? (body, not just the subject)
  2. Is it possible to include an attachment with the response?

I'd like to enable mail so that say for example Mail receives a message that contains SEND ME and PRODUCT INFO, that it would automatically respond AND include a file in the response as an attachment?

I am familiar with Mail Rules, but do not see a way to create this rule given mails functionality. I see there is an option to run a script, but I am unsure of how to do what I need.

Thank you for any help you can provide!

Instead of all this trouble AND having the computer On and Awake for this to happen. Log onto www.icloud.com with your Apple ID and in the iCloud >> Mail one can setup and Auto " Out Of Office" for all incoming new messages. The down side - is Spam and or Junk mailers will automatically have verified the email address is real.

I don't need an out of office message, I need a conditional response, a script, that would respond with a predefined message template with an attachment based on keywords in the message.

For example: If the email received has the words "send me" and "product information" it would reply using a template where I have already created a generic email response WITH AN ATTACHMENT that would be sent to the person requesting it. I was hoping that someone would be more familiar with AppleScript that I am, that might point me in the right direction. Thanks for the response though! 😊

Good idea, but no. The rules of Apple Mail do not have the ability to respond with an attachment, or use a template. I can trigger a rule to say look for words in the subject, and respond with say "I will send you the file you requested within three days." but not include a copy of the requested file. I was hoping that someone with AppleScript experience would no how, as AppleScripts can be called from within the email rules. Thanks!
